    Our Host staff must be prepared to amaze! The Host is responsible for promptly greeting guests with a smile, seating guests, booking and overseeing reservations and floor planning. The Host has friendly and enthusiastic interaction with guests, the monitors and coordinates activities within the dining room and maintains an organized and clean work station.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Greet guests with “Irrashaimase” in a courteous and professional manner as they enter and exit the restaurant providing them with a positive first and last    impression
    • Open the front doors for guests as they arrive and leave the restaurant
    • If there is a wait, quote accurate wait times to the guest.
    • Escort guests to tables and provides menus. If no tables are available, invite the guest to sit at the bar and have a drink while waiting
    • Maintain wait list, as appropriate; informs guests of approximate wait time and where they can wait for a table; informs guests when their table is prepared
    • Verify that every table sat has been greeted in a timely fashion
    • Arrange parties or special services for diners
    • Answer phones in a courteous and professional manner
    • Schedule dining reservations through knowledge of Open Table
    • Maintain a complete working knowledge of the menu and daily specials
    • Manage guest complaints and dissatisfaction in a prompt and professional manner; determine necessary adjustments; involve management in all complaints and resolutions
    • Anticipate guests’ needs by constantly scanning the room
    • Respond properly in any dining room emergency or safety situation
    • Inspect menus and lists to ensure they are in the proper condition and appearance
    • Prepare and serve non-alcoholic beverages as needed
    • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage priorities and workflow
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Strives at all times to practice teamwork
    • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation at all times
    • Follow all food safety and other sanitation rules/regulations
    • Attend all required Kaizen Training events and/or staff meetings
    • Follow SZ standards of performance and service

    • Perform other duties as assigned by Management


    • Excellent communication skills
    • High School Diploma or GED preferred
    • Current Food Handler’s certification required
    • Bilingual skills a plus
    • Professional and caring demeanor

    Physical Requirements:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
